Grilled Tuna Steaks with Spicy Tomato Salsa

A nice twist on the standard grilled tuna steak, this recipe adds a spicy tomato salsa for extra flavor. If a grill isn’t handy you can bake the tuna in the oven for 20 minutes at 375 degrees. Serve with a green vegetable like asparagus or broccoli, or add a baked potato.

ingredients

  • Good Splash Olive oil in a small mixing bowl
  • Spoon Dijon mustard
  • Juice of half Lemon
  • 2 Tuna steaks
  • 2 Ripe tomatoes , chopped
  • 1/4 Red onion , peeled and finely diced
  • 1 Sprig fresh parsley , finely minced
  • Dash hot red pepper flakes or tobasco sauce
  • Dash Red wine vinegar
  • Splash Olive oil
  • Pinch Kosher salt
  • Pinch Black Pepper

prep / directions

Whisk together the olive oil, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt and pepper in a small mixing bowl. Brush or pour over the tuna steaks and let marinate for 15 minutes or so while you make the salsa. Then grill for 5-7 minutes per side depending on thickness. For the salsa, combine the chopped tomato, diced red onion, parsley, pepper flakes or tobasco, red wine vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper in another mixing bowl. Mix well and then spoon over the grilled tuna steaks while they’re still hot.
