ChowGuys Barbecue Sauce

If you can find a great prepared sauce by all means try it. But this recipe is homemade, it's easy as Mom's pie, and you'll have the satisfaction of doing a 'cue' your very own way. Nothing's better!

ingredients

  • Olive oil to coat bottom of a deep pan or pot
  • 1 Medium Yellow onion , diced
  • 2 Cloves Garlic , minced
  • 1 Bottle Heinz Chile Sauce
  • 1 Lemon juice
  • 2 Heaping spoons Brown sugar
  • 4 Spoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Spoons Red wine vinegar
  • Generous pinch Kosher salt
  • Generous pinch Black Pepper

prep / directions

Heat olive oil in the pan under medium heat and brown the onion, stirring about 8-10 minutes. Add the minced garlic for the last 2 minutes. Then add the entire bottle of Heinz Chile Sauce to the pan. Add brown sugar, lemon juice, vinegar and Worcestershire sauce. Sir in salt and pepper and mix sauce well. Bring to a boil and turn the heat down to medium so the sauce simmers gently for about 30 minutes. This BBQ sauce is especially tasty on chicken and ribs.
