Sloppy Joes

This is the other way to enjoy ground beef on a bun, especially if you’ve got a couple of friends coming over for the game. Have some dill pickles and good cold beer on hand to wash it all down and help cheer for the home team.

ingredients

  • 1 Pound Ground chuck or beef
  • 1 Onion , finely chopped
  • 2 Cloves Garlic , minced
  • 1 small can (14 oz) Tomato puree
  • 1 Dash Red wine vinegar
  • 1 Small Spoon Brown sugar or other sugar
  • 1 Small spoon Tomato paste
  • 1 Small spoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 4 hamburger or Kaiser rolls

prep / directions

autee beef in a skillet over medium high heat for 5 to 6 minutes, breaking the pieces up with a wooden spoon. Season with the salt and pepper and add onion and garlic, stirring for another 5 minutes. Then add the pureed tomatoes, sugar, vinegar, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and the water. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for another 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Lightly toast the rolls and spoon the mixture evenly over the bottom halves. Serve with a dill pickle or coleslaw, and open another beer. Cheers!
